Christian candle lighting is used in the following ways:
Candle lighting in church
There is usually a special place in a church for candles, called a lampstand or altar. Believers can light candles on the lampstand or altar during worship, prayer, communion, baptism, wedding, funeral and other occasions to express worship and prayer to God. Sometimes, churches also light candles of different colors or shapes according to different festivals or themes to increase the atmosphere and meaning.
Home candle lighting
Believers can also light candles in their homes to show gratitude and praise to God. Some families light one or more candles on the table or in the living room every morning and evening, or before and after meals, and sing a poem or pray together. Some families also light candles on special days, such as Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and so on, to celebrate and remember. Some families will also light candles for their relatives and friends or people in need of help at home to express their care and blessing.
Personal candle lighting
Believers can also light candles in their own personal space, such as bedrooms, study rooms, workbenches, etc., to show personal piety and contemplation of God. Some believers light candles to increase spirituality and creativity during activities such as Bible reading, meditation, writing, and painting. Some believers also light candles to seek God’s help and guidance when they encounter difficulties or challenges.
