Candle, is a daily lighting tool, mainly made of paraffin wax.
In ancient times, it was usually made from animal fat. It burns and gives off light.
Candles may have originated from torches in primitive times. Primitive people smeared fat or wax on bark or wood chips and tied them together to make lighting torches. There is also a legend that in the ancient period of pre-Qin Dynasty, someone tied mugwort and reed into a bundle, then dipped in some grease and lit it for lighting, and later someone wrapped a hollow reed with cloth and filled it with wax and lit it.
The main component of the candle paraffin wax (C25H52), paraffin wax is prepared from the wax-containing fraction of petroleum by cold pressing or solvent dewaxing, is a mixture of several advanced alkane. The additives include white oil, stearic acid, polyethylene, essence, etc. The stearic acid (C17H35COOH) is mainly used to improve the softness.
